Next Meeting–24th August 2017

Special Guest Speaker

The meeting have all the usual activities but we will also have the pleasure of Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery addressing our meeting. After his short talk there will be the opportunity for members to ask questions. With the council elections due on 9th September this will be an ideal time to find out about the Mayor’s plans for the future direction of Wollongong and, in particular, Dapto.

Bus Trip

The club’s next bus trip is to Meroogal House in Nowra on Monday, 4th September. There are only a few tickets left for this interesting visit so get in early to secure yours.

After the visit the bus will stop at a local club where members can enjoy a meal and good company.

Fathers’ Day Concert

Our wonderful concert group will be holding their Fathers’ Day Concert in the hall on the 11th September. The concert starts at 1.30pm but it is a good idea to arrive early to get the best seats in the house and make new friends. There will be all the usual fun: a singalong, comedy and lots of good singing. Don’t miss it – everybody is welcome; a gold coin donation at the door would be appreciated - you will receive a ticket in the exciting door prize draw held after the concert.

Fathers’ Day Lunch

At this meeting tickets for the Father’s Day lunch will go on sale. The lunch is on the 14th September in the Sinclair Room at Dapto Leagues Club and it is still only $18 for members.

Members will enjoy a delicious two course meal followed by the monster door prize draw – at the Birthday Lunch earlier this month everybody received a gift, so don’t miss out.

See you there…

There is always a lot happening at Dapto Seniors so don’t miss out; come along to the meeting and find out about all the activities happening at your local club. New members are always welcome. There is something going on every day of the week so don’t miss out. Looking forward to seeing you.

After the AGM we will have our normal meeting. Make sure you bring your raffle tickets from the last (aborted) meeting the prizes are worth $80! See you there…

Defibrillator Exhibition and Demonstration

Before the meeting a member of the Ribbonwood staff will demonstrate and tell you all about the Defibrillator machine now available in the front foyer. Come and look at this machine and ask any questions. The equipment will be available for demonstration from about 9.45am onward.

Looking Forward to 2015

Well that is it! The club’s 2014 activities are over and it is time to look forward to 2015.

2014 was another successful year for the club and our end of year functions were very well attended.

Christmas Concert

The Christmas Concert was well received by a capacity crowd. New songs, hilarious skits, wonderful performances and some great cameo roles made for a memorable show. Afterwards Duncan and his team plied everyone with cups of tea and coffee as they enjoyed their snack - the ensuing lucky door prize draw ensured that the afternoon finished off on a high note.

Christmas Lunch

The final lunch of the year was attended by nearly 90 members. Dapto Leagues Club did us proud, the meal was excellent.

Surprise Presentation

Squeezed in between the meal and the raffle draw was a presentation. For once our President was lost for words when he was called up to be presented with his Branch Life Membership by our Vice President. Brian has been president of our club for five years and very much deserved this award.

Following this presentation Edna and Ann got stuck into the raffle with their usual enthusiasm, two tables were over flowing with wonderful prizes donated by members. In fact there were more prizes than attendees so some lucky members went away with two gifts. What a great effort by everyone.

Next Meeting

The first meeting of the club in 2015 is:

Thursday, 15th January 2015

We look forward to seeing you all then. Annual membership fees are due at that meeting, it is still only $12 for the year.

In accordance with members’ suggestion we will be recording the next of kin details in our membership file. All that is recorded is a phone number of a relative who you would like to be contacted in the event of an emergency. This is purely optional so is entirely up to you whether you choose to take advantage of this. If you would like such a phone number recorded (land line or mobile) please write it clearly somewhere on your membership envelope.

Please make our hardworking treasurer’s job a little easier in January by enclosing the exact money for your membership subscription. Thank you.

Once again: To all our members…

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

All the best for 2015.
