2018 has ended as far as the activities of Dapto Seniors are concerned but we will be back in 2019 with all our regular activities.

Christmas Lunch

The final event of the year was the club’s Christmas Lunch held at Dapto Leagues Club where the staff always look after us very well.

The food was among the best of the year with duck, beef wellington, Christmas pudding and trifle on the menu. Between courses the draw for the beautiful quilt and the blanket made by the craft group was held. Thank you to everyone that took part.

After the food there was a lot of chatting as well as the lucky door prize draw – every attendee went home with a prize.

Change of Venue for Lunch

Birthday Lunch

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the venue for the Birthday Lunch on 2nd August has been changed to the Kembla Grange Golf Club.

This was not our decision but forced on us by Dapto Leagues Club at very short notice - they have obviously had a better offer for the Sinclair Room.

The date and time remain the same only the venue has changed.

Date: 2nd August 2018
Time: 11.30am for Noon
Place: Kembla Grange Golf Club

If you don't already have your ticket to the lunch they will still be available at the next meeting on the 26th July - still only $20 for an excellent two course meal.

Christmas Lunch

Just a reminder that we had to move our Christmas Lunch to Friday, 14th December 2018 for a similar reason. Don’t forget to change the date on your membership card.

Christmas and a Happy New Year

What a year we have had!

Bus trips, lunches, picnics, social days out and all the wonderful things that make Dapto Seniors the fun club it  is. We look forward to seeing you all next year on the 14th January 2016 when we can start to do it all again.

Bus Trips

Our last trip for 2015 was a cruise on Port Hacking. After a worrying start when the council supplied us with the wrong bus it all turned out very well and members had a lovely day exploring the river aboard a fantastic old ferry Tom Thumb III, it was a day spent in glorious sunshine.

Afterwards the group retired to Cronulla RSL for lunch, a chat and the chance to admire the views of Cronulla Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

The bus trips are held every month and visit a wide variety of places of interest. This year members went on visits to Wivenhoe House, the Careflight Helicopter base, the fascinating Egyptian Room, the Norman Lindsay Gallery and many more terrific places. The cost is usually $12 plus the cost of entry if any (and usually we get a group discount) so these trips are within anyone’s means, where ever possible we get a guided tour of the establishment we visit. As well as being interesting the trip is a social occasion with stops for morning tea and a lunch so there is plenty of time to sit and chat with your fellow members.

Our thanks to all the volunteer drivers who make the day so enjoyable.

Concerts

The Concert Group performed three concerts during the year. All of them were well received; the Christmas concert provided an exciting seasonal finale to the year.

There was some wonderful singing by the choir interspersed with comedy and solo acts of an amazingly high standard. The audience cheered and cheered and when it was their turn to join in with the singalong they did so with great enthusiasm. The light snack afterwards and the many door prizes made the event one to remember and ensured everyone present looked forward to the next.

The group is always on the look out for new talent so you are most welcome to join, fun is always high on the agenda - don’t be shy, come along and take part; rehearsals are every Monday afternoon (once the club’s year starts).

Activities

Apart from these activities Dapto Seniors has something going on every day of the week, Whether it is carpet bowls, cards, exercises, computer tuition, theatre visits or craft there is something that will suit you (click on the CLUB ACTIVITIES tab at the top of the page to find out more). We also take part in various publicity events arranged by local community groups and/or  Wollongong Council.

Just around the corner - 2016

Wow! another year is almost here; where does the time go?

What’s Coming Up?

Community Day

Dapto Seniors had a stall at the recent Community Day held in the Ribbonwood Centre. The stall displayed brochures and pictures of the various activities for members while the Craft Group displayed some of the beautiful items they make when they meet each week. Our ladies made the stall look really interesting to encourage passers by to browse.

Remember no trips in October but TWO in November! Look out for details in October.

Fathers’ Day Concert

Rehearsals have reached fever pinch as the club’s singers and performers get ready to present their ever popular Fathers’ Day Concert on the 14th September  in Heininger Hall. Members and non members are invited to attend for a jolly afternoon’s entertainment. A gold coin donation at the door would be appreciated. • Pick up a copy of The Senior Newspaper and/or The Voice when they are available.
  • Find out about our many activities that you can join in, there is something on everyday of the week.

During the meeting there will be the usual short reports about the various activities the club offers its members and you are able to bring up matters of interest to members during General Business - don't be afraid to speak up if there is something that concerns you, this is YOUR club.

The meeting usually finishes between 11 and 11.30am.

New members are most welcome to come along and find out about the club, there is a short newsletter available for new or potential members at the raffle/signing in table which details coming events and contact details for the various group leaders. Please take one.

Just a reminder that there is no trip in October BUT save your money because we have two trips in November with an extra trip to Flemington Markets on a Sunday mid month.

Fathers’ Day Lunch

It hardly seems any time since the club’s Birthday Lunch but tickets for the Fathers Day Lunch will go on sale at this meeting. As usual we will have a lovely lunch in the Sinclair Room at Dapto Leagues Club.  Tickets are only $18 - so very good value for money.

Don’t forget to write your name on the back of the ticket for the great door prize (last time everybody went home with a prize).

Great lunch, great company, lots of fun.  See you there…
